Mateo, 14-year-old – Nicklaus Children’s Hospital
Mateo is a brave warrior of Chilean origin, who has been fighting relapse Medulloblastoma since the tender age of 8. Mateo’s complex treatment involved surgery, radiation and chemotherapy in his home country. Although he had a miraculous rehabilitation and won the battle, 2 years later his cancer came back. Mateo was discharged from the hospital since his doctors in Chile could not offer him additional treatment options.
Mateo’s family began to look for options to save his life and since 2022 he has been undergoing treatment in Miami. He was offered hope and an opportunity to continue living. His family no longer have resources, and it is unknown how long treatment will last. Mateo and his parents are anxiously waiting for MRI results to find out if he is a candidate for a clinical trial.
