Greyson, 4-year-old – Nicklaus Children’s Hospital

In November 2023, Greyson’s life changed forever with the heartbreaking diagnosis of ependymoma (malignant grade 3 fast growing tumor). Overnight, his world shifted from playful childhood moments to hospital rooms and medical procedures. Greyson has bravely endured (7) brain surgeries, and multiple rounds of chemotherapy and radiation— procedures and treatments that would challenge even the strongest adults.

For a while, hope blossomed as Greyson prepared to start school this past August, but sadly a follow up MRI showed the tumor had returned. Mom remains hopeful that Greyson will beat cancer at the end of this chemotherapy protocol August this year.

Needs

While Greyson’s mom is unable to work, she needs help with gas for their long 161-mile commute from their home in Cape Coral to his treating hospital in Miami, groceries and mortgage.

Letter from Hospital Social Worker:

Dear Jessica June Children’s Cancer Foundation supporters:
I am writing this letter on behalf of the family of Greyson, a 4-year-old boy who was diagnosed with an ependymoma (brain tumor) in November 2023. Greyson initially presented with gait changes and vomiting. A brain MRI showed that Greyson had a solid mass. Greyson had resection surgery done at Golisano’s Children’s Hospital on 11/9/2023 and started on chemotherapy treatment. Greyson had an additional resection surgery on 2/12/2024 which became complicated and Greyson then went to All Children’s in March 2024 for tumor debulking surgery.
After the surgeries, Greyson continued with complications which led Greyson’s mother to consult with Dr. Niazi at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. Greyson had a fourth surgical resection surgery along with placement of an external drain on 7/11/2024 with Dr. Niazi at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. The recovery after the surgical procedure was lengthy, and the patient’s mother had to stop working to be able to be the primary caregiver at bedside. Greyson’s mother is a single mother, and the hospital admissions, follow-ups, and treatments have impacted her finances significantly.
Greyson and his mother reside in Cape Coral, FL about 161 miles away, which makes commuting for appointments costly. Greyson had to receive radiation treatment at Miami Cancer Institute intermittently between 8/26/2024 and 12/3/2024 due to his healing process after surgery. With the assistance of oncology foundations, Greyson and his mother were able to stay at hotels nearby during radiation treatment and follow-ups. However, this still meant grocery and transport expenses.
After completing radiation treatment, Greyson’s mother was starting to see that Greyson was improvingand would possibly be able to start school in August 2025. Unfortunately, a follow-up MRI in June 2025showed that the tumor had returned. This news was devastating for the family. Greyson’s mother, however, focused on how well Greyson was doing and used that to help her remain hopeful and resilient. Greyson thankfully, had not been experiencing any symptoms, and the medical team quickly planned for another surgical resection.
Greyson had another tumor resection surgery on 6/11/2025. Dr. Ossama Maher recommended that Greyson start chemotherapy treatment and Greyson has been in treatment with chemotherapy since8/15/2025. The treatment is expected to last for about 1 year. Greyson’s mother has not been able towork and continues to commute to Miami for treatment and follow-ups. Greyson’s mother is seeking financial assistance with their mortgage, utility bills, groceries, and transportation expenses throughouttreatment. It has been a long 2.5 years for Greyson and his family, and they are hopeful after thischemotherapy protocol he will be done with treatment.

Greyson’s Brave Battle: A Story of Strength, Setbacks, and Hope
Greyson was only two and a half years old when our family’s world was turned upside down with a heartbreaking diagnosis: brain cancer. In the blink of an eye, our lives shifted from playdates and story time to emergency scans, surgeries, and a life full of uncertainty.
Over the past year and a half, Greyson has shown more strength than most adults ever must. He has undergone seven brain surgeries, each one critical and terrifying, including two to fight dangerous infections. He has powered through multiple rounds of chemotherapy and radiation treatments; all while being separated from the comforts of home and the joys of a normal childhood.
We hoped his journey would be nearing an end. But just when we thought he had a chance to recover, we received the devastating news: the cancer had come back—and this time, it had spread to a different part of his brain. Once again, Greyson faced another round of radiation, and he is now continuing chemotherapy with a long and grueling treatment plan.
He is expected to be in treatment for another year, and his next MRI is scheduled for March. Each scan is filled with anxiety; each hospital visit is a reminder of how fragile everything is. But through it all, Greyson never gives up. His spirit remains unbroken. He still finds ways to laugh, play, and bring joy to those around him.
What makes Greyson’s story so extraordinary isn’t just the medical challenges he’s endured, it’s the way he’s faced them. With courage. With heart. With strength far beyond his years.
This journey has placed a heavy emotional, physical, and financial burden on our family, but we continue to walk this road with hope, hope that treatment will work, hope that Greyson will heal, and hope that he’ll one day live the life every child deserves.
We’re so grateful for the love and support surrounding us. Every message, every donation, every prayer carries us forward. This assistance would help us with our daily living expenses and mortgage. Please continue to stand with Greyson as he fights the biggest battle of his young life.
