Story
Elizabeth, 9-year-old – Nicklaus Children’s Hospital
Elizabeth was diagnosed with Leukemia (Pre-B, ALL) December 7, 2023. Initially she was hospitalized for one month. Since then, she has been hospitalized multiple times for complications from her chemotherapy treatment.
Elizabeth resides with both her parents. Mom had to quit working in security in order to become Elizabeth’s full-time caretaker. The family now depends entirely on Dad’s income which is insufficient to cover the family’s basic needs. His work as a handyman is unstable creating a great deal of financial uncertainty and anxiety for the parents.
Besides the financial strain, Elizabeth has been suffering from numerous complications and side effects from her aggressive treatment. She is currently receiving 28-day continuous intravenous immunotherapy treatment to prevent a relapse. This little girl who once was happy, extroverted, and active, is now feeling depressed, and requires a wheelchair due to her limited mobility. Her physical and emotional state has sadly affected her self-esteem and social life.
Needs
Elizabeth and her family need financial support to help pay their monthly mortgage, car note and utilities.
