Requirements

Financial Assistance Program: JJCCF’s main program and is often described as a “lifeline” for families battling childhood cancer. The Foundation is committed to providing emergency financial relief to help families pay for everyday basic needs such as rent, food, medical and electricity so they can focus on what is most important; their child’s survival.

Advocacy, emotional support and respite options encompass our supportive care services for families served.

  • Child fighting cancer comes from a low-income family currently experiencing financial hardship.
  • Child’s cancer diagnosis has affected family’s finances / income. Family is temporarily struggling to maintain basic human needs.
  • Many cases involve a single parent household and family qualifies for government assistance programs such as Medicaid and Supplemental Security Income.
  • Child must reside in the state of Florida.
  • JJCCF does not take gender, race, religion or immigration status into consideration when determining a child’s eligibility.
  • Child must be under 18 years of age (0-17 years old).
  • Child / Family must be referred by their social worker and complete our (3) page Financial Assistance Application Form. Applications should be emailed to JJCCF staff by their social worker.
  • After JJCCF staff reviews the submitted application, the child’s caregiver will be contacted to confirm eligibility and explain the assistance process.  Copies of outstanding bills representing basic human needs (i.e., medical, utilities, rent, mortgage, insurance, car payment) should be provided. Grocery or gas gift cards may be requested. JJCCF staff will request a headshot of the child for our Annual Collage of the faces behind our mission and mail our financial assistance package to child’s home address.
  • At present JJCCF is serving patients of the following (17) partner hospitals and (2) partner clinics: Salah Foundation Children’s Hospital at Broward Health, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital at Memorial, Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, Holtz Children’s Hospital at Jackson, alex’s place at Sylvester, Miami Cancer Institute (Baptist Health), The Children’s Hospital at Palms West, Palm Beach Children’s Hospital at St. Mary’s, Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital, Nemours Children’s Hospital, Nemours Children’s Specialty Care, Golisano Children’s Hospital, UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital, Arnold Palmer Hospital, AdventHealth, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (FL residents), MD Anderson Children’s Cancer Hospital (FL residents), and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (FL residents).

**Approved applicants for the Financial Assistance Program are assisted on a one-time basis, but may also qualify for JJCCF’s Advocacy Program
