Dear JJCCF Friends,
Your help is needed! Please consider contributing to families trying to focus on their child’s survival while struggling to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table. What if this was your child? We hope you will never discover a parent’s worst nightmare, “your child has cancer.” No parent ever prepares emotionally or financially for such devastating news. Just $1 dollar will make a difference for Kasie, Alejandro, Ja’Kayla, Lucas and Jhavid. Your contributions will add up to make a significant impact in the lives of these 5 children and their families. Your support will make a difference!
The needs for these families fighting childhood cancer exceed the Jessica June Children’s Cancer Foundation (JJCCF) limited resources. JJCCF has already provided each family with emergency financial assistance representing basic human needs which is significant, but not sufficient. As an advocate for these children, I am reaching out for outside urgent support (YOUR HELP) so these families can survive a temporary crisis.
Giving gift cards for food / gas or tax-deductible donations would be greatly appreciated. If you have any suggestions or questions do not hesitate to contact us at (954) 712-6322 or email [email protected].

Advocacy Program – Children with Urgent Needs:
1) Kasie, 4 Y/O, Broward Health Medical Center (see her photo above)
Kasie is a tiny girl with a big smile that is struggling in her battle with Medulloblastoma (a rare brain cancer) since August of 2014. Kasie’s cancer treatment have caused her to lose her ability to walk and function in her normal daily activities. Her single-mom has been unable to return to work given Kasie’s many treatment appointments and 24 hour home care required which has created a financial crisis for the family of 5.
Quote from mother: “Never in a million years would I have thought my daughter had a brain tumor! I When they told me, I went from thinking it was a bad dream to fear”.

2) Alejandro, 17 Y/O, UM/Jackson Memorial Medical Center
In 2014, Alejandro’s family was devasted to learn he had relapsed after 4 years of chemo treatments for Leukemia and that now he would need a life saving bone marrow transplant. The mother is living at the Ronald McDonald House in Miami in order to stay at her son’s side in this nearly 5 year battle that has plagued this family emotionally and financially.
Quote from father: “We wish to let JJCCF and everyone who visits their website know we, together with the hundred other mom’s, dads and loved ones of cancer children are so very grateful for all that you do!” Click on this link to read more.
3) Ja’Kayla, 5 Y/O, alex’s place/UM/Jackson Memorial Medical Center
In October of 2014, Ja’Kayla’s parents were devasted to learn that Ja’Kayla had a large tumor growing on one of her kidneys that required emergency surgery. After the surgery they received more bad news… the surgeon successfully removed the affected kidney but the cancer had already spread to her abdomen and lungs.
Quote from father: “My daughter continues to be ill and needing treatment. Because of this, I am unable to go to work consistenly, as I bring my daughter to her medical appointments.”

4) Lucas, 2 Y/O, alex’s place/UM/Jackson Memorial Medical Center
In 2013, Lucas was born prematurely but miraculously survived as his twin brother died 19 days later. Just after celebrating Lucas’ 1st birthday in 2014, his mother was shocked to learn that Lucas had a tumor within his liver that required emergency surgery. The tumor was successfully removed but the cancer had already spread which required him to start rigorous chemo to fight for his life. Lucas’ mother has been unable to return to work which has steadily driven this family into a financial disaster resulting in their only family car being repossessed.
Quote from mother: “most important is getting to Lucas’ apppointments which include weekly physical, occupational, and speech therapy twice a week.” Click on this link to read more.
5) Jhavid, 17 Y/O, UM/Jackson Memorial Medical Center
In April of 2014, Jhavid’s single-mother was horrified to learn that her only son had bone cancer (Osteosarcoma) and that he would lose his leg and possibly his life unless he received immediate specialized treatment that was not available in Jamaica. Since May of 2014, Jhavid and his mother have lived at the Miami Ronald McDonald House as they continue to battle the cancer. WIthout an income his mom is unable to pay for treatment and basic needs.
Quote from mother: “I am asking for your assistance to help offset outstanding amounts incurred for Jhavid’s treatment to enable him to receive care and assist in alleviating the medical, emotional and financial stress we are facing.” Click on this link to read more.
