Despite the continued economic downturn in 2009, JJCCF had a prosperous fundraising year. The Foundation’s budget grew approximately 70% during 2009 thanks to the contributions of generous individuals, private foundations and corporations. Almost every penny raised during 2009 was applied to our Financial Assistance program.
- The Wasie Foundation was the highest private foundation contributor.
- Barclays Capital was the highest corporate contributor.
One of the Foundation’s Board members was the highest individual contributor.
- JJCCF President/Founder contributed 32% of her total 2008 salary.
We are pleased to report JJCCF was able to double the financial assistance per child to $2,000 for 46 children / families (194 family members). Our Advocacy program raised funds with our partners at WPLG-Local 10 News Care Force so a single mom of four children could have a car to transport her child missing cancer treatment. We surprised this mom with a new car on December 2009. Additionally, JJCCF raised over $16,000 for a single dad of three children so that his daughter could have a consultation at M D Anderson, and the family could have access to basic human needs during a difficult five month period. Recognition: Broward Health named their reception room at their new Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Center in honor of Jessica June Children’s Cancer Foundation and in memory of Jessica.
