Derek Parsons,
Owner,
Windsor Diamonds:

“In early 2010 I became aware of a local charity assisting children with cancer by providing them with the basic human necessities required to ensure that the child was able to keep his appointments for cancer treatment, and that the child’s home conditions provided adequate support for the treatments.

I became a supporter, both financially and as a weekly volunteer. As a busy small business owner, I have caught the passion of the founder and volunteers, and I am giving an enormous amount of my time to JJCCF; developing new programs for assistance and sharing time with the children and their families.

If I had to summarize why I have become so committed to Jessica June Children’s Cancer Foundation in such a short space of time I would make the following points:

1. The need to guarantee a child with cancer has a roof over their head, electricity, good nutrition and transportation to the hospital can not be over emphasized. Medical treatment alone will not be enough if the basic necessities of life are not available to the child.

2. JJCCF does more than just provide basic necessities. Sandra Muvdi and her volunteers show families they are not alone in their struggle. Very often the family is invited to a small gathering where caring people make the child and their family feel loved and cared about.

3. The passion and dedication of Sandra Muvdi is clear to all. Sandra puts in 60+ hours a week and is paid minimum wage. Muvdi is the only employee. She puts most of her time and energy into helping the children and their families. This leaves little time for fundraising. In spite of this, she is able to work miracles with the funds available. To see so many people being helped by the sheer spirit and passion of Sandra and her volunteers is motivational.

4. The families of the children are so appreciative of both the financial help and the caring, that it becomes clear that JJCCF is a jewel in the local community.”
