“Many people call themselves visionaries, but only a select few take their vision and make it their life’s mission. Sandra Muvdi has done this with the Jessica June Children’s Cancer Foundation. From the tragic and untimely death of her young daughter, Jessica June, Sandra has found hope and healing serving the families of children who have been diagnosed with cancer.
I met Sandra in June 2007, when she called our television news station to tell us about Shawn White, a young boy who was battling a brain tumor. Shawn’s mom left her job to be by his side and his dad was working several jobs to meet the bills. We partnered with Sandra to provide financial assistance to the family. After our story aired, the family received countless get-well cards, gifts, and close to $2,600 in donations.
Most recently, Sandra provided financial and emotional assistance to a young mom whose three-year-old daughter was diagnosed with kidney and liver cancer. The mom didn’t have a car of her own and had to use public transportation to get her daughter to her many doctors’ appointments. Sandra immediately contacted us, and through our partnership, we were able to surprise this family with a new car and six months of car insurance, all paid for by Local 10 viewers who saw the story.
Thanks to the care and personal attention with which Sandra approaches each and every case, many south Florida families are having their immediate needs fulfilled and their spirits, as well as their burdens, are being lifted.
Without Sandra Muvdi and the Jessica June Children’s Cancer Foundation these families would have dealt with their pain in silence and never received the help they so greatly needed and deserved.
The Local 10 Care Force is proud and honored to have the Jessica June Children’s Cancer Foundation as a partner. The foundation’s work in this community and for our news organization is truly invaluable.”
