“The Jessica June Children’s Cancer Foundation (JJCCF) has been a continued supporter of the patients and families at Chris Evert Children’s Hospital Pediatric Cancer Center at Broward Health. We are fortunate to have the partnership with JJCCF to refer needy families with a child diagnosed with cancer. The children diagnosed with cancer are often initially hospitalized for extended periods and require almost constant physical and emotional care. The treatment can be lengthy and demanding. Therefore, many of the parents are unable to maintain full-time employment.

The diagnosis of cancer is overwhelmingly devastating, emotionally and financially to the entire family. When financial crisis occurs because of the demands of treatment, we are able to refer the parents to the JJCCF. The families require assistance with many daily living expenses, medication costs and medical bills. The parents of children who have Medicaid and Supplemental Security Income are often not able to pay basic household bills, including rent, and electricity.

Over the past several years, the JJCCF has been able to assist families with rent, electric, food, transportation costs and other basic needs. The foundation has also been able to pay for medical expenses. For example, the foundation paid for a blood test for a patient requiring a lifesaving bone marrow transplant. The family would not have been able to afford the cost of $500 per blood test without the assistance from JJCCF.

We are fortunate to work closely with the founder of JJCCF, Sandra Muvdi, and rely on her foundation to provide assistance that is not available elsewhere. The foundation has provided assistance that has helped many families during the most devastating times and we are grateful for the continued support.”
