Letter from Hospital Social Worker:

Dear Jessica June Children’s Cancer Foundation,

My Name is Ida Rodriguez, and I am a clinical social worker at the University of Miami Alex’s place, pediatric hematology oncology outpatient clinic.
I am writing to you regarding Zayda, date of birth: 06/11/2021, a 4-year-old little girl who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in May 2023 and was treated at another institution. In her history, it is listed that she presented with leg pain and difficulty walking. After several tests, she received the diagnosis of leukemia. Unfortunately, Zayda relapsed with the same diagnosis during the maintenance phase. She was then referred to our institute for a stem cell transplant, December 10, 2025.
Her brother was her donor. Zayda remained hospitalized post-transplant until January 20, 2026. She now comes to Alex’s place for post-transplant care 1x week. Currently, Zayda is medically stable. Her mother presents with her all the follow-up visits and is observed to appropriately care for her daughter by meeting her needs and encouraging her to take her medicines and bring her to all her follow-up appointments.
Mother is not employed currently, as she is Zayda’s primary caregiver. Presently, Zayda requires continual medical care and cannot attend any daycare due to being immuno-compromised. As a result, mothers expressed a limited income. Any assistance for this family would be a tremendous help to them at this time.
