Unemployed Parents Plea for Help as 10 y/o Battles Leukemia

Collection Complete November 2025. Thanks to generous contributors, JJCCF’s Financial Assistance / Advocacy / Supportive Care Services Programs and collaborative support from partner organizations, this family benefited from having access to basic human needs during a dreadful time.

Letter from Social Worker:

I would like to recommend Sophia’s family for your Advocacy Program.
Sophia is 10 years old and is battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). Sophia has had a difficult journey during her treatment and has recently had significant issues after having her Lumbar Puncture with chemotherapy (which is part of her on-going treatment). Needless to say, this has been very difficult for this family emotionally and financially since Sophia’s Mom had to stop working to care for Sophia full-time. Dad is now the sole provider for this family of four (Sophia has a teenage sister, Stephanie).

To make matters worse Dad was recently let go from work and is currently looking for a new job. As you can imagine this has put both an emotional and financial strain on this family as they struggle to pay their rent and other bills. Any assistance you can provide to help Sophia’s family financially, especially with Rent and utilities it would be greatly appreciated and give them one less thing to fret over.

Plea from Father:

Dear Jessica June Foundation,

My name is Silvio, and I am reaching out for support during a very difficult time for our family. My daughter, Sophia, is 10 years old and currently undergoing treatment for leukemia. Over the past few weeks, she has not been feeling well due to her Lumber Puncture, which has made things even more challenging for us. Since her diagnosis in October 2023, we have faced significant emotional and financial hardships.

My wife had to stop working to care for Sophia full-time, and we are now struggling to pay our rent and bills as I search for a new job. I would sincerely appreciate any assistance you can provide to help us through this tough period. Thank you for your time, consideration, and the incredible support you offer to families in need.
