Story
Zoe, 6-year-old – Nicklaus Children’s Hospital
Zoe was 18 months when she was diagnosed with Pre-B Leukemia in June of 2019. After enduring 2 ½ years of chemotherapy, she was in remission. However, that relief and happiness was short-lived through September of 2023 when Zoe’s cancer came back.
With meager treatment options in her homeland of Honduras, and doctors foreseeing Zoe’s passing, searching for lifesaving treatment elsewhere was the only hope. Zoe’s mother decided to get loans, and travel to the U.S. in search of a medical miracle.
Zoe’s father and brother stayed in Honduras and are barely able to make ends meet. Zoe’s mom is unable to work as she is Zoe’s sole caretaker in Miami. Although young Zoe has endured numerous rounds of chemotherapy and months of immunotherapy, many challenges still lie ahead.
